Time to Turn the Tables...

Let's give the Republicans credit as first-rate campaigners and propagandists.  Clearly shivering at the policy credentials of Obama's VP pick, the McCain campaign is responding with a slick, Rovian strategy. The strategy is actually very simple: whenever and wherever possible, morph 'good' into 'bad'.  Turn strength into weakness. They did it with Obama's 'celebrity', and they are doing it now with the strength of Obama's VP pick.  McCain's spokeswoman was just on CNN--sadly--emphasizing that the choice of Joe Biden only serves to "showcase" Barack Obama's weakness on foreign policy.

I suggest we take their cue and, when McCain announces HIS Vice Presidential pick on August 29, we turn the tables.

The idea is to prepare thoroughly for each of the viable picks, so we can pull out and disseminate the attack lines quickly--just as the McCain campaign did last night with Biden.

If McCain picks....

Tim Pawlenty:

McCain's choice of this self-proclaimed "Sam's Club Republican" obviously showcases his tremendous weakness in working-class appeal.  McCain picked Pawlenty in part out of desperation, knowing he has never stepped into a Sam's Club--having always opted for the Country Club instead. (Even if he had stepped into a Sam's Club, however, he would have needed Tim Pawlenty to help him find his way around.)

Mitt Romney:

McCain's choice of this Wall Street venture capitalist showcases what he has long admitted himself:  He knows absolutely nothing about the economy.  He knows absolutely nothing about economics or finance. In fact, John McCain has never touched, handled, or had any knowledge of his own finances.  (The choice also showcases McCain's willingness to fool hard-working Americans into believing that the wealthiest presidential ticket in American history somehow cares about them.)

Sarah Palin:

McCain's choice of this young, up-and-coming female governor showcases, for one, that McCain is not young.  In fact, McCain is very old, and down-and-going.  He likely needs a steady hand like Palin's to help him sign executive orders and write assorted correspondence. Also, the choice of a female showcases McCain's desperation to attract female voters who are otherwise running for the hills.

Candidate with Cognitive Ability:

McCain's choice of this candidate, who has a semblance of decent cognitive and neurological functioning, showcases that McCain's own brain doesn't actually work that well.  The choice showcases McCain's lack of activity in the frontal and temporal lobes, as evidenced by his consistent gaffes and lack of awareness of himself and his surroundings.  Did I mention he can't name how many houses he owns?

You get how it's done.  On August 29, regardless of who McCain picks as his nominee, just remember to turn his or her strength into McCain's own weakness.  The strategy is working for them, and there is absolutely no reason it shouldn't work for us.

Experience Critisim is valid (none / 0)

That's why pretty much every democratic Presidential contender questioned Obama's experience. Joe Biden would have been great as President, better than both Hillary and Barack. He was putting out good points during the debates. The fact that he is now Barack's VP reminds me how substance really didn't matter during the primaries

Re: Experience Critisim is valid (none / 0)

I totally agree with you.  I would have loved to have seen Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee.  I would have loved for Democrats to have seen through some of Obama's frankly hollow rhetoric in the primaries.

But he won.  Our cause just didn't work out.  At this point, we ought to do what we can in support of an Obama/Biden ticket.
