Guess They Shouldn't Be Concerned - Obama Breaks 50 Percent

I am normally loathe to quote polls in the middle of frakkin' July. They're useless.

But after finding solace in the great non-state of the District of Columbia this past weekend (my 4-year-old loved the National Air and Space Museum), this little tidbit brightened my evening as I perused assorted websites.

Barack Obama has hit 50 percent in a GE poll for the first time this cycle, in a survey conducted by Research 2000.

Call it a post trip bounce where Obama has taken a hit from his esteemed candidate, John McCain, and some of his lackeys for acting like a president.  Heaven forbid that a presidential candidate look...ummm...well...presidential.

It's still early in the game, but could it possibly be that mainstream America saw something that they've not seen in years - an American LEADER being held in great esteem in Europe and by the troops?

Oh NOES!! Whatever will we do.  This is terrible.  It's almost as bad as dogs and cats living together.  It's mass hysteria!!!

No, it's not.  THIS. IS. WHAT'S. POSSIBLE.

This is what can happen if we remained focused and work for an Obama victory.

That's the best news yet.  I said I wouldn't really consider it a lead until he hit 50%.

I always bitch at people who stress out about polls this early out.  But I have to admit I did smile and share a terrorist fist jab with the girlfriend when I saw that.

mojo for " terrorist fist jab with the girlfriend"

funny as hell man

President-elect Barack Obama spent the day thanking the people who helped him win the election. Obama's first phone call was to Sarah Palin.

Re: Guess They Shouldn't Be (none / 0)

This and the Gallup tracking poll were great news. It reflects the obvious: Obama pulled off  a huge coup last week. All the carping, whining, lying and idiotic stunts by the McCain camp couldn't obscure it. He looked like the president. Cool, measured, charismatic and not over the top. How these images could not have an affect on an America that likes to be respected and liked is hard to deny. They know it of course which is why they were getting shrill and increasingly idiotic as the week wore on. The German sausage restaurant was the low I think although it had serious competition from the golf cart.

As numerous commentators have said this election is about Obama. If he can make Americans feel comfortable with him, he's home. And he made a huge move in that direction last week.

The general is always about the Democrat (none / 0)

The generic ballot nearly always shows the American people have an idea in my mind of what they want their president to be like and usually it is a Dem. The reason the Repubs have won in spite of this time and time again is because they have been able to make a caricature of the D nominee thus making them unacceptable to the electorate resulting in a default R president.
